Publishing in a book series can create an additional identity for your book within a larger list at a press, much like a curated exhibit at a museum nests within an overall collection. Series books also often benefit from additional feedback, support, and advocacy from series editors, as most series have one or more series editors outside the press. Series may have editorial boards whose members likewise contribute to the development of the series. A series can give readers additional information and context for understanding a book’s overall focus or contribution. Some book series are well-known within the field, and publishing in such a series may offer additional opportunities for impact and for engagement with audiences familiar with the series.
